3D Printed Desk Lamp

Faro is a desk lamp designed for easy user interactivity in mind. This prototype went through multiple concept iterations that looked vastly different from the end result. It was decided that the lamp would have a big rotatable component for the user to direct the light in any desired direction.

The lamp was mainly inspired by astronomical bodies such as stars and moons, with a focus on natural morphology on Earth. Art by H.R. Giger and Jack Kirby greatly inspired the conceptualization and form of the lamp.

All of the components were 3D modeled in Blender and were 3D printed at Concordia University using PLA filament.

This specific filament was chosen because of its bio-degradable properties and ease of assembly. There were a few mistakes that led to the modification of the final design but in the end the material proved to be very efficient and attractive.
